ISLAMABAD: Two days prior to Brazil’s Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva being inaugurated as president the incumbent Jair Bolsonaro left the country. So far Bolsanaro has not acknowledged his defeat in the election and bid his supporters a farewell full of tears.

According to a number of news outlets, the far-right political leader was headed to Florida in the United States and had embarked on an air force plane around 1700 GMT.

CNN Brazil quoted Bolsonaro as saying that he is flying but will be back soon.

Thus, Bolsonaro will not be honoring the Brazilian tradition of passing the presidential sash to the new president as he will be missing Lula’s swearing-in event on Sunday.
