ISLAMABAD: At least two people were killed and 24 others wounded when a passenger coach turned turtle near Kallar Kahar Interchange on Motorway on Monday.

Motorway police said that the coach flipped due to a slippery road caused by rain, killing two people and wounding 24 others.

The passenger coach was going to Lahore from Rawalpindi.

The dead and wounded were shifted to a trauma centre in Kallar Kahar.

A day earlier, as many as 41 people were killed when a coach plunged off a bridge on Sunday and fell into a ditch near Chungi stop in Lasbela.

The coach was carrying a total of 48 people when it hit a pillar on the bridge and careened off course earlier on Sunday.

The coach was going from Quetta to Karachi.

Ramshackle highways and reckless driving contribute to Pakistan’s dire road safety records.
