LESBOS: A two-month-old baby recovered dead on Friday morning from a migrant wreckage off Lesbos Island, a medical examiner told AFP on Saturday.
According to coroner Theodoros Nousias, the baby boy was shifted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident occurred when the plastic vessel carrying migrants of mostly African origin hit rocks on the shore in the Fara area, the Lesbos migrant reception center sources told AFP.
The survivors managed to get to the shore and informed the local authorities. The Greek coastguard said Saturday that after reaching the spot Friday noon, he found 30 migrants alive as well as the dead baby. Two of the migrants also received slight injuries.
The coastguard further added that some 1,500 people had been rescued in the first eight months of the year as compared to 600 people over the same period last year.

Mostly such incidents occurred on the Greek Island when People wanted to flee Africa and the Middle East to reach Greece, Italy, and Spain to get a better future in the European countries.
According to the International Organization for Migration, 2,000 migrants have been dead or missing in the Mediterranean Sea this year.
