DHABI: UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan discussed diplomatic efforts to address the rising conflict in the Middle East with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Their conversation focused on securing a ceasefire in Gaza and increasing humanitarian aid to the enclave. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the need to end extremism and halt escalating tensions, which threaten regional and global peace.

Tensions have heightened following the killing of 12 people in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, with Israel promising a strong response to Hezbollah, despite the group’s denial of involvement. The assassination of Hamas’ political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran has further fueled calls for revenge.
