DUBAI: UAE-based artificial intelligence company G42 is working actively with US partners and the government of UAE to comply with AI development and deployment standards.

A spokesperson for the company on Thursday told Western media that the firm will work with partners to comply with the highest international standards in AI.

This is the first statement from G42 since the UAE held meetings with US Congressional staffers in July.

According to a congressional spokesperson the United States lawmakers raised concerns that G42 could transfer powerful U.S. AI technology to China, after Microsoft invested $1.5 billion in the tech company.

UAE’s ruling family and U.S. private equity firm Silver Lake hold stakes in G42, with its chairman Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the UAE national security adviser and a brother to the president.

“It is entirely understandable and appropriate for the US government to be interested in how critical technology, such as Artificial Intelligence, evolves and is applied,” the G42 spokesperson said.
