UAE FM, Blinken Agree to Work to Avoid Further Escalation in Middle East

ABU DHABI: UAE Minister for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken have discussed the latest regional situation and the current escalation between Palestinians and Israelis, Emirates News Agency stated on Sunday.

UAE-US discuss regional situation

The two sides held the discussion during a telephonic conversation. UAE top diplomat Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the significance of exercising the highest restraint, noting that the escalation could have perilous regional consequences.

They addressed global efforts to manage the crisis, and also agreed to maintain consultation, coordination and work to avert further escalation in the region.

According to Arab News, Israeli formally declared war on Sunday against Palestinians for its surprise assault.

As per media reports, at least 700 Israelis have been killed in Israel — a toll on a scale the country has not experienced in decades while 400 Palestinians have been martyred in Gaza in Israeli airstrikes.
