UAE: Newly-appointed US Envoy to Visits Sheikh Zayed Mosque

DUBAI: Martina Strong, the recently-appointed US ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), paid a significant visit to the renowned Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, as reported by the state news agency WAM.

During her visit to this iconic landmark, Ambassador Strong and her accompanying delegation had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the mosque’s profound cultural message, one that underscores coexistence, tolerance, and an open-hearted embrace of all people.

Accompanying them was Youssef Al-Obaidli, the esteemed Director General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, who provided valuable insights and knowledge about the mosque’s cultural significance and its efforts in promoting harmony and understanding among diverse communities.

As a token of appreciation for her visit, Ambassador Strong was presented with a copy of the distinguished publication “Spaces of Light,” a unique work authored by the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre. This book delves into the inspiring architectural and spiritual aspects of the mosque, encapsulating its essence and radiance.

Martina Strong assumed her role as the United States ambassador to the UAE just last month. Her wealth of experience in international diplomacy includes serving as the chargé d’affaires at the US embassy in Saudi Arabia and postings in Iraq, Bulgaria, and Poland. This visit to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque marks a significant step in fostering strong diplomatic ties and mutual understanding between the United States and the UAE.
