DUBAI: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on Sunday welcomed the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, who arrived in Abu Dhabi.
During their meeting, the two leaders held discussions on various regional and international issues, with a particular focus on addressing the current humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, they stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to secure an immediate and lasting ceasefire in the besieged Palestinian territory, as well as ensuring the protection of civilians.
Both leaders underscored the need to uphold the principles of international humanitarian law to safeguard the rights of civilians in Gaza, while also emphasizing the need to address the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the region.

They also discussed the proposals presented by US President Joe Biden regarding the crisis in Gaza. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Sheikh Tamim affirmed their support for all serious initiatives and endeavors aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region, protecting the lives of civilians, and alleviating the suffering in Gaza. They expressed their commitment to pursuing a clear political path towards achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace based on the principles of the two-state solution, while also preserving the security and stability of the region.
