UAE’s AI Firm and Nvidia to Team Up on Climate Tech

DUBAI: United Arab Emirates-based artificial intelligence firm G42 has teamed up with American chipmaker Nvidia (NVDA.O), opens new tab to work on climate tech, the firm said on Friday.

The Gulf-based firm said in a statement that the two companies would work together develop Artificial Intelligence solutions aimed at boosting weather forecasting accuracy internationally and will establish an operational base and climate tech laboratory in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE company G42, is investing heavily in Artificial Intelligence to help diversify its economy away from oil and UAE-based firms have forged several agreements with US companies recently.

Microsoft (MSFT.O), opens new tab also announced in April it was going to invest $1.5 billion in G42, while this week the two companies stated that they would open two centres in Abu Dhabi.

According to media reports, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is also scheduled to visit Washington on Monday. He will hold meeting with the US President Joe Biden and discuss regional security issues, advanced technology and AI development, the White House stated.
