DUBAI: UAE-based low-cost carrier Air Arabia has announced the resumption of daily flights to Kabul International Airport from its Sharjah hub, beginning January 10, 2024. This comes after a two-year suspension of services from non-Afghan airlines following a regime change in Afghanistan.
Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating, “Kabul is the latest addition to our expanding network from Sharjah, allowing our customers in the UAE and beyond to experience our renowned products.”
Air Arabia’s Flights to Kabul from Sharjah
Operating a fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 neo-LR aircraft, Air Arabia’s flights to Kabul will depart from Sharjah daily at 4:25 am. Ali highlighted the significance of the direct flights, stating, “The introduction of Air Arabia’s direct flights to Kabul is a testament to our ongoing dedication to providing passengers with value-driven and affordable air travel, as well as new destinations to explore.”
Jazeera Airways, a Kuwaiti low-cost carrier, is also gearing up to launch international flights to Kabul. Recently, Dubai’s flydubai became the first international airline to resume flights to Afghanistan after the suspension in 2021.
Currently, Ariana Afghan Airlines and Kam Air serve various global destinations from Kabul Airport. With the addition of Jazeera Airways and Air Arabia, the total number of international carriers at Kabul Airport will reach three, though this is a reduction from the previous six.
