UK Expresses Disappointment at New Fighting in Gaza

LONDON: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in a call with Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his disappointment about the resumption of fighting in Gaza, his office said on Tuesday.

A Downing Street spokesperson said the Prime Minister during the telephonic conversation expressed disappointment about the breakdown of the pause in Gaza fighting that had allowed hostages to be freed.

According to the spokesperson the two sides discussed urgent efforts to free all remaining hostages and to allow any remaining British nationals in Gaza to leave.

Sunak’s spokesperson said the British prime minister pressed Israel to protect civilians in Gaza and allowed humanitarian aid to b to enter the Palestinian enclave.

UK considering to send military vessel to Gaza to provide medical assistance

Earlier, British Defense minister Grant Shapps said that his country was considering to send a military vessel to provide medical and humanitarian assistance in Gaza.

Since October 7, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported a staggering toll of 16,200 Palestinians killed, including over 6,500 children and more than 4,000 women, with an additional 41,136 wounded.

The conflict has left an estimated 1.8 million people displaced in Gaza, representing three-quarters of the population. The Israeli military reported conducting around 10,000 airstrikes, while more than 11,500 rockets were fired at Israel since the conflict began.

The Israeli air and ground strikes have also caused extensive damage to buildings, including hospitals, mosques, and churches.
