LONDON: Britain and Jordan have air-dropped four tons of medical assistance to Tal Al-Hawa Hospital in northern Gaza, said Britain’s Foreign Secretary on Wednesday.
Secretary David Cameron in a statement said the aid included medicines, fuel and food to the hospital. The British-funded aid was delivered by the Air Force of Jordan.
Cameron stated thousands of patients will benefit from the aid and the fuel will enable the hospital to carryout its life-saving work.
He termed the situation in Gaza as desperate, saying more aid is needed, and fast in the region. He called for an immediate humanitarian pause to allow more aid into Gaza as early as possible and bring hostages back home.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza has said that at least 29,313 people have been killed in the besieged enclave during Israel’s war on Gaza.
A statement said a total of 118 people were killed in the past 24 hours, while another 69,333 have been injured since the war started on October 7.
Jordan had asked Israel to allow the World Food Programme (WFP) to send humanitarian aid to Gaza through another land route that starts from Jordan.
Jordan, which shares a border with the West Bank, thinks that the Gaza war could spread to its areas, and triggering a large-scale Palestinian displacement to the other side of the Jordan River
