KYIV: Ukraine said Tuesday that 22 people were still missing after a Russian missile targeted an apartment block in Dnipro city, killing at least 44 persons.
Saturday’s attack was one of the deadliest strikes since Russia invaded Ukraine around 11 months ago. The Kremlin denies that its troops were responsible.
“Twenty-two people are currently missing,” said the state emergency services.
Deadliest strike in Dnipro
Dnipro’s mayor Borys Filatov gave the latest toll from the missile strike, which ripped open the side of the Soviet-designed housing apartment in the Dnipro city.
Earlier, the presidency said that one of the dead bodies recovered from the rubble on Tuesday was that of a child. Ukrainian officials have said that five children were among the dead.
The Ukrainian army said an X-22 Russian missile hit the block.
