BRUSSELS: NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg today warned that the conflict in Ukraine war could get out of control and turn into a war between Russia and the military.

Bulgaria Sends Aid to Ukraine:

Bulgaria’s parliament has approved the country’s first military aid program in Ukraine including a list of weapons prepared by the government. The National Assembly voted 148 to 46 with one vote against laying down arms in Kyiv after months of political conflict over the issue in the Balkan NATO member states.

Bulgaria initially agreed to repair Ukrainian weapons at its facilities, but refused to send the weapons directly because of opposition from President Rumen Radev and pro-Moscow politicians. Along with Hungary, Bulgaria is the only European Union member state to refuse to provide arms to Ukraine after the Russian invasion.

Although the full list of weapons is still being kept, company officials told reporters before the election that the package included small arms and ammunition.

Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said in a TV interview that the aid “fully corresponds to Ukraine’s priorities”, and added that Bulgaria will not provide the S-300 missile system or weapons.

Politicians approved an agreement between the security forces of Bulgaria and Ukraine for the transfer of weapons, equipment and ammunition. The agreement includes the training of up to 60 members of the Ukrainian army as combat medics.
