Work underway for power restoration in war-hit Kherson

There is a professional relationship with Andrii Kysenko’s team as they work on a failed power line in the countryside of Kherson.

According to international media, including BBC, since the well was only a few meters from the tower, they were convinced that a single shell caused it. Two months ago, the 100 km (62 miles) power line crossed the border with Russia.

Since the Russian military withdrew about two weeks ago, the once-in-five-year maintenance work has become a daily routine for these engineers. “Before, such work was necessary only when the weather conditions were difficult,” says Lysenko. “Now it’s like we’re rebuilding the entire cable network from scratch.”

They work for the largest energy company in Ukraine, DTEK, and have repaired 50 km of this line. They expect the second half to be more difficult along the Dnipro river, where the mines are increasing.

They are relatively easy in the work environment, especially with the armor they will wear. Still, his team used a method to close the line and put it in place.
