KYIV, Ukraine: Russia launched multiple waves of drones targeting Kyiv early Monday, but Ukraine’s air defense successfully intercepted and neutralized the attacks, according to Ukraine’s military. Witnesses reported hearing blasts as the defense systems engaged the drones, which were either destroyed or disabled by electronic warfare.
Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, confirmed that there were no casualties or damage from the attack. Air raid alerts lasted over five hours across Kyiv and eastern Ukraine.
Throughout September, Russia has intensified air attacks on Ukraine, focusing on military, energy, and transport infrastructure. Despite numerous civilian casualties, Russia continues to deny intentionally targeting non-combatants in the conflict, which it describes as a “special operation.”
