KYIV, Ukraine: The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the crash of an F16 fighter jet and the death of its pilot during combat against Russian airstrikes. The incident occurred after the F16s destroyed four missiles. The aircraft lost contact while approaching another target and later crashed, resulting in the pilot’s death. A special commission from the Ukrainian Defense Ministry is investigating the crash site to determine the cause. Ukrainian Air Force later reported that pilot Oleksii Mes was killed on August 26, though it is unclear if he was piloting the F16.
