GENEVA: Geneva based UN official and wife of Ugandan opposition leader has complained of racist harassment by Swiss police.
Winifred Byanyima, Executive Director of United Nations (UN) AIDS in a statement on social network X, formerly known as Twitter said a security guard called police while she was doing exercise in a private park outside the building where she is residing for past three years.
“I’ve had enough of racist harassment,” she said.

UN Agency Head Complains Racist Harassment
She stated that the cop had rudely asked her to stop the work out adding that the policeman treated her like a trespasser in her own place.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Mrs Winifred of Uganda as the Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) in November, 2019.
Prior to the appointment, she had served as Executive Director of Oxfam International since 2013. Before that she was the Director of Gender and Development at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
