LONDON: The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Rishi Sunak, has promised to introduce new laws to tackle the issue of illegal immigration and maintained that anyone who comes to the UK illegally would not be allowed to stay.

PM Sunak said those who illegally enter the UK would be “immediately returned,” and lawmakers will set an “annual quota” to determine how many asylum seekers can enter the country.

The prime minister said the new laws would be introduced early next year for those people who do not come to the UK through safe and legal routes “will be detained and immediately sent to a country which is safe for them and where their asylum claim will be considered or would be returned to their home country or. “

Sunak said those illegally coming would “no longer be able to spoil removal attempts with spurious of late appeals or claims” and, once removed from the United Kingdom, “should have no right to reenter the country or claim citizenship.”

The United Kingdom’s premier pledged to work with the United Nations (UN) Refugee Agency to find more legal routes “so the UK remains safe for the most vulnerable.”

Labour party attacked the government announcements as only “gimmicks,” while the Liberal Democrats claim the plans would “weaken vital protections for victims of modern slavery and human trafficking.”

Among Tory backbenchers to appreciate the policies was former cabinet minister Simon Clarke, who called it a “really strong and welcome action.”
