Upper Balochistan in Pakistan Frigid in Sub-zero Temperatures

QUETTA, PAKISTAN: Upper Balochistan in Pakistan is still receiving snowfall and sub-zero temperatures which has again disrupted many link roads in Chaman Kozak Top, Ziarat, Muslim Bagh, and other upper areas in the province.

Besides this, rain on Friday soaked many regions of Punjab, including Lahore and Gujranwala, making the weather nippy.

The roads in Chaman and Quetta, which were cleared for traffic a few days ago, have again been closed because of snowfall.

Zero temperature causes roads closure 

Due to snowfall and zero temperatures in Chaman Kozak Top, Quetta Chaman Highway has been closed to traffic. Besides this, Muslim Bagh, Chaman, Ziarat, Sheela Bagh, and Khawaja Imran Khanzuzai roads have been shut after these areas received severe rain and snowfall.

There are reports that many citizens have been trapped in Chaman, Toba Kakri, and Ziarat Luiband.

Many plain places of Punjab, which were in the grip of cold and dry weather for the previous several days, received showers on Friday. The rain has added to the chill.

The upper areas of the country are already receiving sleet and snow.

The silver snow has covered the whole of Murree, giving it a stunning white look.

Metrological Department’s forecast said that rain with thunder and lightning is expected at a few places in the Upper places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, North Punjab, and the North Balochistan and snowfall in the mountains on Friday.

The Met Office predicted that westerly winds are affecting North Balochistan, which could cover the upper places from January 21 (night) and could continue till January 25.

The weather all over the country in the last 24 hours has been cold and dry in most parts of the country. Rain was recorded in a few areas in Balochistan, Upper Sindh, and Central Punjab. Highest rainfall (mm): Baluchistan: Pasni 17, Gwadar 25, Jiwani 21, Turbat 11, Panjgur 07, Kalat 08, Quetta (Samingli 03, Sheikh Manda 01), Sindh: Sukkur 01, Jacobabad 03, Punjab: 01 mm rain was recorded in Khanpur.
