PESHAWAR: The Director of Elementary and Secondary Education (E&SE) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has expressed serious concerns regarding the state of broken electrical appliances in government schools across the province.
In a recent directive issued to all District Education Officers (DEOs), the Director highlighted the alarming condition of electric wires, boards, switches, buttons, fans, and gutters in various schools, emphasizing the potential risks they pose to the safety of students and staff.
During surprise visits to schools, including those in the merged areas, it was observed that the lack of proper maintenance could lead to hazardous situations, posing a threat to human lives.
In response to these findings, the Director directed all DEOs to take immediate and necessary measures to ensure the proper maintenance of electrical appliances in their respective schools. This includes instructing principals, headmasters, in-charges, Senior District Education Officers (SDEOs), and other relevant officials to prioritize safety measures to safeguard the lives of students and staff.
The directive issued by the Assistant Director Planning and Development-II underscored the seriousness of the matter, urging DEOs to strictly implement the orders and warning of legal action in case of non-compliance.
This initiative aims to address the neglect of maintenance practices in KP government schools and underscores the commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for all stakeholders.
