ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Hitech Hybrid Seed Association Shahzad Ali Malik said on Sunday that in emerging global challenges, it has become increasingly evident that the diversification of the agricultural sector is the need of the hour to meet ever-increasing food staple needs in the wake of climate change.

Talking to a delegation of progressive farmers, the chairman said that the world around us is changing rapidly, and population growth, climate change, and shifting people demands are reshaping the landscape of agriculture.

He said that as agriculturalists, we are well aware of the challenges we face, from depletion of natural resources to unpredictable weather patterns. He added that embracing diversification in agricultural practices is not just a choice; it is a necessity.

Benefits of Diversifying Agricultural Sector

Moreover, it opens up new avenues for economic growth, enabling farmers to tap into niche markets and increase their income. He said as we stand at the crossroads of traditional practices and modern innovation, it is necessary to explore integrated approaches, diverse crops, and sustainable farming techniques.

He added that collaboration between policymakers, farmers, and researchers is crucial to identifying suitable crops, promoting research and development, and formulating supportive policies that incentivize diversification efforts. Let us work together to transform our agricultural sector, he said.

Malik said that by embracing diversification, we can create a sustainable and resilient future for ourselves and the coming generations. Together, we can ensure food security, preserve our natural resources, and build thriving rural communities.
