Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh to Commence from September 5

LAHORE: Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs of Punjab Barrister Syed Azfar Ali Nasir said on Wednesday that the 980th Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh will be held from 5 to 7 September.

He said that on the special instructions of the Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, foolproof security arrangements had been made regarding Urs.

He made the remarks during a press conference along with Secretary Auqaf Dr Syed Tahir Raza Bukhari and Director General of Religious Affairs Asif Ali Farrukh in Lahore.

On this occasion, the minister said that the Urs celebrations would start on 5 September at 11:00 am with the ceremony of Chadar Poshi on the grave of the great saint of the Sub-continent, after which the traditional milk Sabil will be inaugurated.

Barrister Azfar Ali Nasir said that special publication of two books, Tasheel Kashf Al-Mahjub and Ma’arif Syed Hajvair, had also been arranged as the chief minister will launch these two books.

On the occasion, more than five hundred religious and spiritual gatherings and academic sessions would be arranged.

Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman will inaugurate the international conference on 31 August at 2 pm.

He said that the Auqaf Department had reserved 12.5 million rupees for Langar and other ceremonies besides arrangements of Urs for pilgrims.

Security Arrangements for Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh

Talking about security arrangements, the minister said that 155 CCTV cameras and more than three thousand security personnel would be deployed, while constables will be stationed in the women area.

Barrister Azfar Ali Nasir said that medical camps had also been established near Data Darbar for the convenience of pilgrims, and the parking lot had been opened.
