US Administration to Encourage Public Get New COVID-19 Shots

WASHINGTON: The US-administration has planned to urge all Americans to get another booster shot to counter the impact of COVID-19 new wave of infections, western media reported on Sunday.

As per reports White House official has said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reporting surge in infections and hospital admissions from the COVID-19, however, overall levels of infection is still low.

US Administration to Encourage Public Get New COVID-19 Shots

US based pharmaceutical company Moderna has said according to a preliminary data new COVID-19 vaccine is effective against the “Eris” and “Fornax” subvariants in humans.

Moderna and other COVID-19 vaccine makers Novavax, Pfizer and German partner BioNTech SE have created versions of their shots to counter XBB.1.5 subvariant.

After the approval from health authorities in the United States and Europe, the updated shots of the vaccine would be available in the coming weeks for the next season.

The White House official said that all American citizens will be encouraged to have another coronavirus vaccine booster along with flu shots and RSV shots.

There have been over 769 million confirmed Covid-19 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic, according to WHO data. About 7 million people have died. Europe has had the most confirmed cases, but the US has reported the most fatalities.
