ISLAMABAD/JAKARTA: The US, South Korea and Japan vowed to consider all options against North Korea, including air strikes, in the wake of missile tests by Pyongyang that sent regional tensions spiraling on Tuesday.

US special representative for North Korea Sung Kim held talks with South Korean counterpart Kim Gunn and Japan Foreign Minister Takehiro Funakoshi in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, where they warned of Pyongyang’s threat to regional security and peace.

Funakoshi, the Japan foreign ministry, said that “we would examine all options, including counterstrike capabilities.

His ledge comes after their nations slapped a penalty on North Korean authority and groups this month to punish Kim Jong Un’s regime for the wave of missile tests.

US and the three allies

Gunn said that Pyongyang had become more aggressive in threatening nuclear action and that the three allies would harmonize sanctions despite Russian and Chinese vetoes of a USA led bid to tighten them at the UN earlier this year.

South’s envoy said North Korea is becoming more aggressive and blatant in its regional nuclear threat.

Washington, Funakoshi said that Seoul and Tokyo had bolstered their security cooperation with North Korea to new heights due to the heightened missile activity.

North Korea’s provocation should be met with a firm and united response from the global community.

Funakoshi said that We urge North Korea to respond sincerely to our call for dialogue. Our commitment to denuclearization will remain unwavering.

After overseeing the launch of the Hwasong 17 evil missile in November, Kim declared he has wanted North Korea to have the world’s most powerful nuclear army.
