DAMASCUS, Syria: Projectiles were launched toward a US air base in Syria’s Deir Ezzor province, but none struck the facility, according to US officials.

Iran-backed militia reportedly targeted the base with six shells, all of which landed near the base. Artillery fire was used by the US-led coalition to retaliate against the attack. No injuries were reported, and the initial reports are subject to change.

Following the incident, US warplanes were seen flying over the Deir Ezzor countryside. Meanwhile, ConocoPhillips confirmed that its assets in Syria were divested long ago, distancing itself from the reports.
