US Centcom Commander ‘Satisfied’ with Pakistan’s Nuclear Program

ISLAMABAD: The US Central Command (Centcom) has praised the Pakistan Army leadership and the country’s nuclear program, local media reported on Sunday.

According to media reports, in a meeting of the US Senate Armed Services Committee a few days ago, US Centcom top official General Michael E. Kurilla was questioned regarding Pakistan’s nuclear program and its stability.

Pakistan-US ties

In response, General Michael E. Kurilla spoke about his long-lasting and close military ties with Pakistan and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir. He said Pakistan’s nuclear system is safe and the US is satisfied with it.

General Michael E. Kurilla said that he had confidence in the security procedures of the South Asian country’s nuclear program. The General also spoke of his good relationship with Army Chief General Asim Munir.

Responding to a question from Senator Angus King, he said that currently Pakistan is facing financial and political problems.  He further said that terrorism is also a challenge for Pakistan as attacks by the banned TTP have increased since the end of a ceasefire with the banned outfit.
