WASHINGTON, USA: The US military reported intercepting a drone and two missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi over the southern Red Sea in separate incidents on Saturday, ensuring the safety of ships in the trade route, stated US Central Command (CENTCOM).

No injuries or damage were reported from the incidents. The Houthis, controlling significant parts of Yemen, have carried out numerous drone and missile strikes into the Red Sea since November, citing retaliation for the Israel-Hamas conflict.

CENTCOM confirmed the drone’s interception during the day and the subsequent downing of two other drones into the water. Later, in the evening, CENTCOM forces successfully neutralized two anti-ship ballistic missiles aimed at the USS Gravely, a US Navy missile destroyer, averting any harm or damage.

These attacks have prompted retaliatory actions from US and British forces, leading to the formation of an international coalition to safeguard crucial shipping lanes in the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea.
