NEW YORK: The United States (US) is planning to send Patriot air defense missiles to Ukraine, US media reported Wednesday. According to BBC, US President Joe Biden will likely announce it in the current week. Reports suggest that Ukraine’s government has long been asking the US for air defense support due to continuous Russian attacks.

The Patriot air defense system is one of the most advanced United States (US) air defense systems. However, reports suggest that its supplies to Ukraine may be limited. Patriot air defense is in high demand worldwide, is very expensive, and needs significant training to operate.
Officials said the air defense systems would likely be sent in the upcoming days if the move is approved. It may be recalled that Moscow said on Wednesday that the Patriot air defense system would be a legitimate target for Russian strikes.
