WASHINGTON: The US military said it had carried out a strike against explosive uncrewed surface vehicles (USV) of the Houthis in Yemen.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) in a statement said that on February 5, at approximately 3:30 p.m. (local time), U.S. Central Command forces carried out a strike in self-defense against two Houthi explosive uncrewed surface vehicles (USV).
It said that the U.S. forces identified the explosive USVs in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined they posed an imminent threat to U.S. Navy and merchant ships in the region.
It added these actions will protect freedom of navigation and make global waters safer and more secure for U.S. Navy ships and merchant vessels.
