US Top Official to Visit Astana

ASTANA: US Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Deterrence, and Stability Mallory Stewart will visit Astana, Kazakhstan, local media reported.

According to the US Department of State, Assistant Secretary Stewart will ink the National and Nuclear Risk Reduction Center’s (NNRRC) Secure Line deal between the United States Department of State and the Kazakhstan Ministry of Defense.

It added this deal showcases the robust US-Kazakhstan partnership and their mutual commitment to minimizing risks and promoting stability at global level. Local official said that the volume of trade turnover between the US and Kazakhstan amounted to $4.1 billion in 2023. The volume of trade turnover surged by 32.7 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

At the same time, exports to the United States for the above period amounted to $1.509 billion, which is 30.1 percent more than from January through December 2022.

In addition, imports from the United States from January through December 2023 also increased by 33.7 percent and amounted to $2.541 billion. In 2022, imports amounted to around $1.9 billion.
