US Treasury Secretary Holds “Frank and Productive” Meeting with China’s Envoy

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen and Xie Fang, China’s ambassador to the United States, engaged in a “frank and productive discussion” on Monday, as per a statement released by the US Department of Treasury. The meeting took place ahead of Secretary Yellen’s scheduled visit to Beijing later this week.

During the meeting, both Yellen and Xie covered a range of global and bilateral issues, reflecting the significance of the economic relationship between the United States and China. According to state media broadcaster CCTV, Ambassador Xie expressed China’s concerns regarding economic and trade matters and urged the United States to take action to resolve these issues.
