ISLAMABAD: A US State Department spokesperson on Wednesday refrained from commenting on ex-prime minister Imran Khan’s statement absolving the Joe Biden administration of involvement in any conspiracy to topple his government, saying the United States values its long-standing ties with Pakistan.

Spokesman Ned Price said the US officials had spoken clearly about this issue since these erroneous accusations surfaced.

The US values its long-standing cooperation with Pakistan. It has always viewed a democratic and prosperous Pakistan as critical to its interests.  The US does not let misinformation, disinformation and propaganda get in the way of bilateral ties, he said.

Asked by a reporter during his daily press briefing about a Pakistani defense delegation’s ongoing visit to Washington and prospects of resumption of US security assistance to Pakistan, he said that he was not in a position to share publicly beyond the fact that Pakistan was a valued US partner.

Threats to Pakistan are threats to US

Undoubtedly, we have a security relationship that is important to us as many of the threats Pakistan faces could well in turn, be threats to the United States. Therefore, we value the work we do together.
