USOPC Expresses Confidence in Security Measures for Paris Games

PARIS: Sarah Hirshland, CEO of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), affirmed confidence in the security arrangements slated for the upcoming Paris Games. Emphasising athlete safety as their utmost concern, Hirshland highlighted ongoing coordination with French authorities following an attack near the Eiffel Tower, an area designated for the Games’ opening ceremony.

French Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Castera underscored the absence of a backup plan for the ceremony, reiterating a commitment to the event’s scheduled execution.

Hirshland assured reporters that our governments share alignment, emphasising our ongoing robust security measures. She expressed confidence in the current awareness of our operational environment and affirmed satisfaction with the ongoing conversations and plans in place.
