ASTANA: Uzbekistan has proposed the establishment of a “Central Asia – Germany” think tank forum to be held next year in Khiva, aimed at deepening strategic partnerships and fostering sustainable development between the regions. The proposal was made by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the second Central Asia-Germany summit held in Astana, Trends reported.

In his address at the summit, President Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of forging a robust strategic partnership between Central Asia and Germany, aligning with shared objectives of stability, sustainable development, and regional prosperity. He emphasized the need for a long-term development concept that includes programmatic measures in key areas of mutual interest.

“We consider it expedient to adopt a long-term concept for developing our partnership, with a focus on priority areas. To facilitate this, we propose establishing a forum of think tanks titled ‘Central Asia – Germany,'” Mirziyoyev said. He also underscored the importance of annual meetings between the foreign ministers of the involved countries to prepare the agenda for future summits.

The second summit of Central Asian leaders and German officials, held in Astana, served as a platform to advance and reinforce the multifaceted partnership between the regions. Discussions at the summit focused on enhancing practical cooperation in various sectors, including trade, economics, investment, technology, transport, and communication.

The summit featured joint meetings with leaders of prominent German companies and banks, aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration and investment.

A joint declaration was adopted at the conclusion of the summit, outlining the agreed-upon goals and future directions for the Central Asia-Germany relationship.
