TASHKENT: Uzbekistan’s delegation, led by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhromjon Aloyev, actively participated in the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Kampala, Uganda, on January 19-20.
The summit drew delegations from over 100 countries, with representation at various levels, including heads of state, government officials, foreign policy departments, and their deputies.
During the summit, discussions encompassed a range of current global issues, and participants deliberated on leveraging the Non-Aligned Movement’s existing potential to foster global peace, stability, and socio-economic development.
Uzbekistan’s delegation, in particular, expressed gratitude to all member nations for their support in endorsing Uzbekistan’s candidacy for the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement for the years 2027-2029. The delegation took the opportunity to inform summit participants about the ongoing reforms taking place within the country.
This development positions Uzbekistan to play a leadership role within the Non-Aligned Movement, a significant international platform that aims to uphold principles of non-alignment, sovereignty, and the pursuit of peaceful coexistence. As the incoming chair for the period 2027-2029, Uzbekistan is poised to contribute to the Movement’s mission of fostering cooperation, dialogue, and mutual understanding among member nations.
