BAKU: Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Türkiye have joined forces to create an international multimodal transport corridor, as announced by the Uzbek Ministry of Transport.

This collaboration follows negotiations among the heads of transport departments from the four nations during the ministerial meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization held in Tashkent on November 2.

A protocol was signed based on the meeting’s outcomes, outlining their commitment to facilitate transit cargo transportation between the Asia-Pacific region and the European Union through their territories.

The corridor’s objectives encompass the implementation of competitive tariff rates and favorable conditions for rail transport, as well as the harmonization of regulatory and technical standards.

This initiative aligns with Uzbekistan’s 2030 strategy, further integrating the country into global transport and logistics networks and unlocking its transit potential.
