Uzbekistan’s President Mirziyoyev, US President Biden Discuss Regional Cooperation

TASHKENT: President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the United States Joe Biden on Wednesday met in New York and held talks on critical matters on the bilateral agenda and regional cooperation. These talks took place within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

During their meeting, President Biden reiterated his strong support for Uzbekistan’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He also expressed his unwavering backing for the country’s ongoing efforts in implementing irreversible reforms.

A significant portion of the discussion was dedicated to advancing practical cooperation projects between Uzbekistan and leading American companies and financial institutions. Both leaders recognized the importance of fostering collaboration to promote economic growth and development. The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to constructive engagement in the fields of human rights and gender equality.

Uzbekistan and AUCC Agreements

In parallel, Uzbekistan and the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) reached agreements on the formulation of road maps for joint projects. This development emerged following a meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and AUCC Chairwoman Carolyn Lamm during the President’s working visit to the United States. The collaboration involves prominent US corporations, including GE Healthcare, Oppenheimer, Cerberus, CNH, and Cintana, highlighting the potential for enhanced economic cooperation between the two nations.
