ISLAMABAD: Videos showing lush green mountains in and around the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia have gone viral on social media, taking many users by surprise.

The usually barren desert and hard rock mountains have burst with greenery following heavy rainfall, which started in November last year.

Images and videos of the unprecedented phenomenon are circulating on multiple social media platforms in which camels and other cattle can be seen grazing through the green grasslands beneath the blue sky dotted with puffy white clouds.

Makkah Ul Mukarrama Received Unprecedented Rainfall in Recent Months

Normally, the region receives rainfall only once in the entire year, but multiple spells of rainfall in the last few months have changed the landscape in this part of the holy land around the holy city. The same has been observed around Madina Munawara Shareef too.
