ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Pakistan Nguyen Tien Phong has completed his diplomatic tenure as Ambassador to Pakistan.
The outgoing envoy, alongside his spouse, hosted a farewell gathering at their residence to bid farewell to friends of Vietnam.
During his stay in Islamabad, Nguyen Tien Phong significantly advanced bilateral cooperation in trade and economic sectors and promoted mutual understanding between Vietnam and Pakistan. He actively encouraged cultural and sports exchanges, fostering closer people-to-people ties and bridging gaps between the two nations.
At the farewell event, attended by distinguished guests, including three deans of diplomatic corps – Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov of Turkmenistan, Ambassador Mohamed Karmoune of Morocco representing African countries, and Pg Kamal Bashah Pg Ahmad of Brunei Darussalam, along with former Philippine Ambassador Maria Agnes M. Cervantes and Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Mazlan of Malaysia, among others – Ambassador Phong was praised for embodying Vietnam’s foreign policy of maintaining positive relations with all nations.
Pakistan ambassador to Vietnam, Samina Mehtab, and notable figures such as Tariq Osman Haydar, Pakistan’s first ambassador to Vietnam, also participated in the event.
In his farewell address, Ambassador Phong expressed gratitude for the support he received from the Pakistani government, foreign office, and civil society, highlighting Pakistan as a second home. He shared fond memories of his interactions across various sectors in Pakistan.
Ambassador Phong also presented Letters of Appreciation to friends of Vietnam for their efforts in strengthening Pakistan-Vietnam relations, ASEAN-Asia cooperation, and Vietnam’s global standing.
