HAVANA: Vietnam president has reiterated support for Cuba, adding that they want to enhance cooperation in diverse sectors.

According to a press statement, the presidents of Vietnam and Cuba visited the commercial port of Mariel, where several Vietnamese firms operate. Vietnam and Cuba are among five nations across the world that are still governed by a single Communist Party.  Several bilateral deals were signed during the trip, notably in the sectors of health and agriculture.

Bilateral trade between the two sides is worth about $340 million.   Vietnam President To Lam said that they want Cuba to continue its development and become self-sufficient in all sectors.

To Lam was inaugurated in August as the head Vietnam’s Communist Party, after the death of his predecessor Nguyen Phu Trong.
