Vloggers, Freelancers to be brought into Tax Net in Next Budget

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistani is intensifying its efforts to implement tax reforms aimed at expanding the tax base and increasing revenue to improve the country’s economy, and now authorities are shifting focus on high net-worth people including vloggers and freelancers who earn in dollars.

A local newspaper cited senior journalist Saleh Zafar as saying that the government is reviewing suggestions to introduce taxes on freelancers and vloggers. He also stated that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suggested to impose tax on remittances.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recommended to impose taxes on various types of income, and different proposals have also been prepared to implement agricultural income tax. The collection of agricultural income tax is expected to be assigned to the FBR; the newspaper claimed.
