WAF Reviews Preparation for Aurat Azadi March in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Women Action Forum’s (WAF) second consultative meeting for the Aurat Azadi March 2024 took place at Khana Badosh Writer’s Café in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Representatives from WA, members of civil society, student unions, and social organizations attended the meeting.

Activist Amar Sindhoo praised the mobilization efforts for the Aurat Azadi March in various villages across four major districts of Sindh. Many women expressed their eagerness to participate in the upcoming event scheduled for March 8. Sindhoo highlighted WAF’s focus on issues such as education and health.

Ghufrana Arain, Regional Coordinator of the Human Rights Commission, presented several proposals and affirmed her commitment to mobilize support for the campaign.

Dr. Bakhtawar Samon, a representative of the Women’s Democratic Front, proposed an awareness drive targeting students in all medical colleges. Zawar Naqvi, a representative of the Hyderabad Arts Council and an office bearer of Sindhi Adabi Sangat, emphasized that women’s freedom reflects the freedom of society as a whole.

Dr. Arfana Malah addressed women’s issues, discussed social behaviors, and highlighted the shortage of funds.

Eminent writer Dr. Abdullah Sethar shared proposals and stressed the importance of enhancing mobilization efforts.

Meanwhile, student leaders expressed their willingness to volunteer for the upcoming Aurat Azadi March.
