Washington: The US White House says there is no indication that Russia’s Wagner private military group poses any specific threat to NATO member countries.

During a virtual briefing, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told the media that the US is monitoring the group closely.

He said that under Article 5 of the NATO treaty, the US is committed to defend the territories of NATO states.

Earlier, the US envoy to the UN envoy Linda Thomas-Greenfield stated that “any attack by the Wagner Group will be seen as an attack by the Russian government.”

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had said that about 100 mercenaries of the Wagner Group have moved towards the Belarusian city of Grodno, near the Polish border.

He warned that mercenaries could disguise themselves as Belarusian soldiers to help illegal immigrants to enter Poland.
