KARACHI: Karachi woke up to a brisk chill on Tuesday, with strong and gusty winds sweeping through the city, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). These winds, anticipated to persist until evening, have notably decreased temperatures throughout the region.

The PMD attributes this weather occurrence to westerly waves affecting Balochistan and Sindh, which commenced their impact on Monday evening. According to the Met Office, winds are currently blowing from the northeast at speeds ranging from 34 to 36 kilometers per hour, potentially reaching up to 45 km/h. Consequently, there has been a discernible temperature drop, with Karachi recording a morning temperature of 17°C on Tuesday.

Earlier forecasts from the Met Office had hinted at the possibility of light rain accompanied by windstorms in several cities, including Jamshoro, Dadu, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, and Larkana.

Karachi has experienced relatively cooler temperatures over the past few days, with the mercury hovering around 16.5 degrees Celsius between Sunday and Monday. However, the windstorm on Monday evening further contributed to the temperature decrease, providing residents with a refreshing break from the city’s usual warmth.
