WASHINGTON: The US on Tuesday announced a new $250 million military aid package for Kyiv that includes apparatus for clearing obstacles and mines.
Ukrainian troops are struggling to make considerable gains in a counter-offensive launched earlier this summer that has run into tough Russian defenses, including trenches, minefields, and tank obstacles.
The new aid will “help Kyiv counter Moscow’s current war of aggression on the battleground and protect its people,” the Pentagon said.
Washington Announces $250 Million Military Package for Kyiv
As per the new package, air defense missiles, anti-armor missiles, artillery rounds, and over three million rounds of small arms ammunition will also be provided to Ukraine. The US has organized the push for global support for Kyiv, rapidly forging an international coalition to back Ukraine after Moscow invaded in February 2022 and coordinating help from several nations.

The US has vowed to provide tens of billions of dollars in military help to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion started. In a statement via social media, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, “I am thankful to all American people, the Congress and President Biden… for the new military package,”.
He further wrote, “Freedom needs protection, and this protection is increasing strong,”.
