DALLAS: Former Pakistan captain and legendry cricketer Wasim Akram has slammed Pakistan for their shocking defeat against USA in the 2024 T20 World Cup Group A match on Thursday.

Two-time World Champions, Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, suffered their biggest defeat in the world cricket, when the USA beat them by five wickets in the Super Over.

Akram, who echoed the sentiments of fellow Pakistanis said when they were playing against the USA, I was confident, every Pakistani was confident that they will win.

“Credit goes to the USA the way they played the cricket, the first innings, the second innings, when they came out to chase and then of course the Super over,” he said.

He said 19 runs in Super Overs is like getting 36 runs in an over.  Akram viewed Pakistan will struggle from here onwards to qualify for the Super Eight because they have to play India, and other two good teams too.

He said the turning point of the game the way they got the early wickets while Pakistan only managed to have one little partnership between Shadab and Babar and later nobody looked comfortable.

The King of Swing said the fielding of Pakistan was average, overall, the cricket was very average.

“Winning and losing is part of the game we all know, but the players must fight till the last ball, so it was a bad day for Pakistan I suppose.,” he said.
