Weather Department Forecasts Cold Waves in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted cold waves will grip most parts of the country during the next 24 hours.

According to the concise situation, continental air prevailed over most parts of Pakistan.

PMD predicted that a shallow trough of the westerly wave would likely approach the country’s western parts today.

Cold and dry weather

Dry and cold weather is expected in most parts of the country; however, very cold weather is expected in the upper parts. However, light snow/light rain over the mountains is expected at isolated places in western and north Balochistan.

Dense foggy conditions are expected to continue over plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, and Punjab.

Frost/fog is expected to occur in Kashmir and isolated places in the Potohar region during morning hours.

During the last 24 hours, dry and cold weather prevailed over most parts of Pakistan, while very cold in north Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Dense foggy conditions prevailed over Punjab’s plain areas.

The lowest minimum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours were Kalam, Astore, Gupis -08, Leh, Skardu -12 C, Ziarat -07, Gilgit -06, Kalat -05, Chitral, and Dir -04 C.
