West Indies Beat UAE by 17 Runs in ICC T20 World Cup Warm-up Match

Junction, Australia: West Indies crushed United Arabs Emirates (UAE) by 17 runs in their opening warm-up match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at Junction cricket ground Australia on Monday.

UAE won the toss and decided to field first, as the West Indies scored 152 for 9 runs in the 20 overs. Brandon King was topper with 64v runs in 45 balls with the help of 7 boundaries and two big sixes, as at one stage West Indies’ three top batters had gone back to hut at a total of 22. Skipper Nicholas Pooran smashed 46 in 31 balls, as he hit 5 sixes. Junaid Siddique (5 for 13) was the best figures of the match while Zahoor Ahmed got two wickets for 24 runs. Kashif Daud and Zawar shared one wicket each.

UAE could score136 for 6 runs in 20 overs. Mohammad Waseem was the only UAE batter, who faced bravely West Indies bowlers. He played a sparkling innings of 69 runs not out. He wasted 52 balls and hit four fours and three sixes. No one other batter could touch the double figures. Raymon Reifer (3 for 17), Odean Smith (1 for 20) and Obed McCoy (1 for 65) were the wicket takers for winners.
