West Indies Players Make Gains in ICC Test Rankings

ISLAMABAD: West Indies players Jayden Seales and Jason Holder have made notable gains in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings following their performances in the recent Test series against South Africa, despite the West Indies losing the series 1-0.

Fast bowler Jayden Seales achieved a career-best 13th position in the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings after being the standout bowler in the second Test against South Africa in Guyana. Seales, who took nine wickets in the match, has climbed 13 places and is now the top-ranked Test bowler from the West Indies.

Other West Indies bowlers also saw improvements: spinners Jomel Warrican (52nd) and Gudakesh Motie (64th) each moved up two spots, while fast bowler Shamar Joseph advanced 11 places to 54th.

In significant movements among South African players, Player of the Match Wiaan Mulder rose 27 places to 65th after taking six wickets, and off-spinner Dane Piedt climbed nine places to 66th following his two wickets in the second innings.

In the Test batting rankings, South African opener Aiden Markram and wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne gained ground after scoring half-centuries in the second innings. Markram moved up two places to 21st, and Verreynne jumped from 62nd to 46th. Former West Indies captain Jason Holder improved seven places to 60th in the batting rankings following his 54 not out in the first innings. He also rose two places to fifth in the all-rounders’ list.

In the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings, Scott Edwards of the Netherlands climbed six places to 26th following scores of 72 against Canada and 65 against the USA in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.

Aaron Jones of the USA moved up 11 places to 56th, Vikramjit Singh of the Netherlands advanced nine places to 79th, and Aryan Dutt of the Netherlands rose five places to 33rd.

In the ICC World Test Championship standings, India leads with 68.52 percentage points after nine matches, followed by Australia with 62.50 points after 12 matches.

New Zealand and Sri Lanka also rank higher than South Africa, which is currently in fifth place with 38.89 points after six matches. The West Indies are at the bottom of the table with 18.52 points after nine matches.
